In April 2017 we launched our Yarlington Next-Gen corporate strategy which will run to 2021. Its overall aim? To help solve the housing crisis and set the tone for an ambitious new era, following a period of significant change for our sector.

Three key objectives lay the foundations for Next-Gen. They depend on each other equally:

  1. To serve our 23,000 customers in the most economic, efficient and effective manner.
  2. To significantly increase the number of new homes we provide.
  3. To implement a new service and operating model, consistent with the needs of our customers.

To meet these objectives, we are committed to building 1,500 new homes. 500 of which will be in Bristol - an area in desperate need of housing. And we'll transform our service model to better meet customers' needs through our 24/7 digital platform, My Yarlington. And programmes like Inspired to Achieve.

We are passionate about delivering quality homes, outstanding service and support to all our customers and colleagues. Promoting an environment of innovation and empowerment and securing partnerships that deliver growth into our communities and our business.

Our progress

Only one year since the the launch of Next-Gen and we have already:

  • Launched My Yarlington, our online customer portal providing customers with 24/7 access to our services.
  • Implemented a new service and operating model which has transformed how we work.
  • Submitted and secured planning on our first site in Bristol. And been awarded preferred bidder status by Bristol City Council on a further two, larger sites.
  • Started construction of our first outright sales site in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset.
  • Completed a 100% affordable development in partnership with a Community Land Trust.
  • Opened Melrose Court, our largest Independent Living scheme to date.
  • Secured a £120m bond to support our ambitions and the building of more homes. 

The future

We'll continue to focus on our Next-Gen objectives. Building more homes. Developing and improving the way we communicate and interact with our customers. And refining our new service and operating model.

It’s an exciting time for us. We’ll keep forging ahead to a bright future by expanding our reach into new areas. And going the extra mile. In this way, we’ll keep doing all we can to help solve the housing crisis.
