The board provides strategic advice, and direction to the management team. And ensures we meet corporate governance laws, standards of practice, and remain committed to solving the housing crisis.

 

Carol Bode

Carol Bode

Chair
Carol is an experienced Organisation Development professional operating for 30 years in the retail, financial services and service sectors. Over the last 12 years, she has developed a portfolio of non-executive director roles within the housing, health and voluntary sectors. Previous roles have included Chair of Radian, Chair of Hampshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (FT), Deputy Chair at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS, Independent Chair of Hampshire’s Safeguarding Adults Board, as well as being an associate to several management consultancies providing Board level effectiveness, governance and development reviews. Carol is also the Chair of Wiltshire Health and Care LLP, Chair of Basingstoke Voluntary Action and a serving magistrate in North Hampshire.
Gary Orr

Gary Orr

Group Chief Executive
Gary has worked in the housing industry for over 22 years. Formally CEO of the ALMO Homes in Sedgemoor, he has also held senior executive positions within regional and national housing organisations. Gary was Chief Executive of Yarlington Housing Group for seven years prior to joining Radian as Chief Executive in 2018. Gary is Vice-Chair of the NHF SW and a former non-executive Board Member at Clanmil Housing Association, where he started his career in the housing sector.
Lindy Morgan

Lindy Morgan

Vice-Chair
Lindy has extensive knowledge of regional and national housing issues, including tenant and community involvement, local authority strategy and housing association development. She was previously Director of the Sovereign Development Consortium and was appointed to the Yarlington Board in 2009, before being appointed as Chair in 2017. Lindy is also Chair of Westworks Procurement Ltd.
Wayne Morris

Wayne Morris

Board Member
An experienced housing professional, Wayne has spent nearly 25 years working at Chief Executive level within major housing associations across the south west, notably Spectrum Housing Group (2007-13) before it merged with Sovereign Housing Association in 2016. Wayne holds several non-executive directorships in the housing sector including PA Housing Group, where he is a member of the Customer Services Committee and the Development and Assets Committee. Wayne joins the new Board having previously held the role of Vice-Chair of the Yarlington Board, Chair of the Yarlington Homes Board and Remuneration Committee and Senior Independent Director. He is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.    
Caroline Moore

Caroline Moore

Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive
Caroline is Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive of the new organisation. Caroline joined Yarlington from PricewaterhouseCoopers where she specialised in providing consultancy and audit services to the housing sector in the south west and nationally. Caroline was appointed to the Yarlington Board as a Board Member in April 2015. She is also a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Yeovil District Hospital, and Chair of their Audit Committee.
Simon Porter

Simon Porter

Board Member
Simon is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience in the financial sector specialising in audit, transaction support and risk management. He currently has a small portfolio of non-executive roles, including University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and Octavia Housing.
Joanna Makinson

Joanna Makinson

Board Member
Joanna is currently Deputy Chief Executive at Bristol Community Health CIC, a not-for-profit social enterprise delivering NHS community healthcare services. Prior to her current role, Joanna was Finance Director and Company Secretary at United Communities, having qualified as an accountant in Pricewaterhouse Coopers’ public-sector team in Bristol.  Joanna joined Yarlington Group in 2015 as a Board Member and Vice Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Joanna has a first-class degree in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge.
Mandy Clarke

Mandy Clarke

Board Member
Mandy is a Chartered HR professional with over 25 years’ international and multi-sector experience. She has undertaken a number of senior and executive roles globally and operates a management consulting business. Mandy is a former Radian Group Board Member, and is a non-executive director at GreenSquare Group and at IPSE (the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed). Mandy was formerly the Chair of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Ashley West

Ashley West

Board Member
Ashley has enjoyed a successful career in banking and commerce, holding a number of roles including Finance Director at Schroders and the Continental Bank of Chicago. Over the last 15 years he has built up a portfolio of non-executive roles, including Chairman roles at MHS Homes, East Thames Group and Board Member of Radian Group. He is currently Deputy Chairman and Chair of the Audit Committee of Dartford Gravesham and Swanley CCG, as well as Chairman of Medway Communities Estates Limited.
Jane Alderman

Jane Alderman

Board Member
Jane is a senior leader who has successfully managed large development programmes in the affordable and market housing sectors. She has extensive professional expertise gained within the area of property development, social housing and regeneration. Jane has previously held roles with a number of social housing groups, including Curo Group. Currently, Jane is a consultant, providing a range of services to clients in the public and private sector, this includes advice on policy and governance and joint ventures. Jane is a chartered surveyor and member of the Institute of Housing. She joined Radian Group as a non-executive Board Member in February 2019.
Gemma Burton-Connolly

Gemma Burton-Connolly

Company Secretary
Gemma has worked in the housing sector for seven years, having taken on roles including Head of Governance and Legal and Group Company Secretary at Yarlington Housing Group. Prior to this, Gemma worked in private practice as a lawyer. She has broad experience of governance and regulatory requirements within private companies, registered charities, community benefit societies and public limited companies. Gemma has a keen interest in raising the profile of governance and removing the perception of bureaucracy by working with individuals, teams and organisations to embed good governance practices. Gemma is dual qualified to practice law in the UK and USA. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Westworks Procurement. Gemma is passionate about motivating and empowering her team to achieve their full potential and provides mentorship to aspiring young leaders too.
Richard Nicol

Richard Nicol

Independent Member of the Audit Committee
Richard is a qualified surveyor with a wealth of housing and development experience. He's worked in the industry for 30 years, 16 of which were spent in private development. Richard has expertise in sales, marketing, and surveying and has carried out extensive market research which has helped to steer scheme design and build. His experience and previous employment, including his appointment to the Yarlington Board in January 2018, has given him sound knowledge of the south west housing market.

Andy Skarzynski

Andy Skarzynski

Executive Director Strategy, Business Intel and HR
Andy's responsibilities within the new organisation are to build firm foundations for success, integration and culture. Prior to this role, Andy was the Executive Director of People, Information and Culture at Yarlington. Andy’s background includes significant experience in marketing, communications, ecommerce and change management gained across a range of businesses and sectors. He has worked in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors, including senior roles with Age UK, The Financial Times and most recently, Mole Valley Farmers.
Sam Leigh

Sam Leigh

Chief Operating Officer
Sam has over 30 years of experience in customer experience, previously holding Executive positions at Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Barclays Bank. Sam’s career spans across onshore and offshore customer operations, leading significant organisational change and transformation programmes that drive large scale improvements in customer experience, business performance and regulatory requirements. In her previous role at Yarlington, Sam was responsible for all areas of service delivery across the organisations’ customers and communities, as well as the commercial growth and expansion of services to new customer segments. Sam will be responsible for implementing a new target operating model and transformation programme, ensuring the organisation delivers great services and opportunities for our customers.
Stephen Lodge

Stephen Lodge

Executive Director Development and Strategic Asset Management
Stephen is responsible for leading the property directorate of the business to ensure the growth of good quality new homes, spanning all tenures, across the region. He is responsible for asset management, including landlord compliance, and leads the sales and home ownership team. Stephen has worked in the housing sector for 25 years, initially as a volunteer in direct access homeless hostels before pursuing a career in housing management and more latterly, development and asset management. He has worked in local government and the housing association and voluntary sectors, both regionally and nationally.
Ralph Facey

Ralph Facey

Executive Director Strategic Partnerships and Projects
Ralph joined Radian in January 2005 and has over 25 years’ housing management experience gained in a range of different organisations. In Birmingham, Ralph coordinated preparations for the transfer of the City Castle Vale estate to a Housing Action Trust and oversaw the formal transfer. After three years spent as Housing Services Manager at Southampton City Council, Ralph became Chief Housing Officer at Gosport Council and led the service through a period of successful and significant change. In January 2005, Ralph took over responsibility for The Swaythling Housing Society Limited’s preparations for the July 2005 Audit Commission inspection, which resulted in a good service and excellent prospects for improvement judgement. Ralph is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. He was appointed as Radian Group Director of Housing and Customer Services in December 2009 and became Director of Partnerships & Projects in June 2018.
Anne Wildeman

Anne Wildeman

Interim Executive Director of HR and OD
Anne joined Radian in January 2019 as Interim Corporate Services Director. Anne previously worked as Executive Director of People and Change at Sovereign Housing. Prior to this she was Executive Director of Business Services at the Spectrum Group. She has 22 years’ experience as a Group Executive Director, with particular specialisation in strategic management and implementing large scale transformational change programmes. She has held two non-executive director posts and sat on the IOW LGPS Pensions Board. She holds a postgraduate advanced professional diploma in Leadership and Strategic Planning from Leeds Metropolitan University and is a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. She is also qualified business coach (ILM Level 5).
