Yarlington’s response to the Budget 2018

Following the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s Budget yesterday, Yarlington’s Managing Director, Caroline Moore comments on the announcements to housing and welfare:

“We welcome the announcements made in this year’s budget and the continued evidence that housing remains high on the government’s agenda. The extension of partnerships between Homes England and nine housing associations clearly demonstrates the government’s recognition of housing associations as vital players in helping solve the housing crisis.

“Additionally, the retrospective relief of stamp duty for shared ownership shows the government’s commitment to recognising the tenure as a secure choice for those who need an affordable option to owning their own home.

“We are also pleased to see the government address problems with Universal Credit and the investment of £1bn over five years to support our claimants as they transition to the new system.

“Following these announcements, we look forward to the government’s response to Sir Oliver Letwin’s final report and to the Green Paper on Social Care as Yarlington, and the rest of the sector continue to deliver much needed housing.”
