What is a Community Alarm
A community alarm is a small unit, providing assistance in the event of an emergency, helping to instill confidence and provide independence in your own home.
Help and support in an emergency is provided, by a trained and dedicated Control Centre Team at the push of a button.
This service operates 24 hours a day. 7 days a week- even Christmas day.
Are you eligible?
- Are you are Yarlington Housing Group tenant?
- Do you have an active telephone line?
- Do you have a mains 13 amp electrical socket?
- Do you have atleast two local contacts that can be contacted in an emergency?
If you have answered YES to ALL of the above, you are eligible to apply for a community alarm.

How the alarm works
The community alarm unit is plugged directly in to your main telephone socket and into a mains electricity supply.
The alarm comes with a pendant facility that is worn either around the neck or the wrist.
When assistance is required all you need to do is press the red button on the pendant. This will activate a call to the Control Centre. Depending on the nature of the incident, they will call on of your contacts (details you will have provided) or the emergency services.
Cost of the alarm
The community alarm costs £3.15 per week.
This cost covers the rental of the community alarm and pendant, connection to the control centre, and a yearly test visit from one of our Community Alarm Officers.
Please note there is no installation charge.
