Come along to our residents day

This year's residents' day will be bigger and better than ever. This year's event will be on Saturday 25th September at Westland Leisure Complex, Westbourne Close Yeovil. We have two special guest speakers, Bobby Cummines back from popular demand from last year and Bob Flowerdew from BBC's Gardeners World who will be presenting the Garden Competition prizes. The day will start at 9.45 am and we recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment. The Help Scheme has been set up to help people to switch one of their sets to digital, you can apply for help if you are aged 75 and over, lived in a care home for six months or more or are registered blind or partially sighted. New government initiative launched

A government program aimed at stopping thousands of vulnerable people losing their homes is being extended across England.

The £200m scheme could help up to 6,000 households which otherwise faced repossession, by 'Not-for-profit' housing associations buying homes from people struggling to pay their mortgage - who will then be allowed to continue to live there.

It is one of several government initiatives launched or expanded to help homeowners in the downturn.

Homeowners in Somerset and surrounding areas requiring further information on the scheme or the qualifying criteria are invited to contact South Somerset District Council (SSDC) on 01935 462462.
