How it works
Yarlington Housing Group is working with the Somerset Rural Youth Project to make ten mopeds available for loan exclusively by Yarlington residents. Read on and contact us if a moped loan will help you.
To start on the Scheme you must:
- Be between 16 and 25 years old
- Get the consent of a parent or guardian if you’re under 18
- Be prepared to pay up to the first £100 of a repair if you damage the bike
- Get a provisional driving license
- Make a payment of £150 which pays for a helmet, jacket, gloves, and a CBT certificate. There may be financial help available for Yarlington residents. Contact us for more details.
- Need the moped to get or stay in work, volunteering or studying.
We will:
- Put you through a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) and additional on road training.
- Meet you regularly to see how things are going, check the moped, arrange services and talk through road safety matters
- Help you plan for your transport when the Scheme ends
Who does what?
- We pay for the moped, the insurance, servicing, MOT’s, Road Tax and repairing faulty or worn out parts.
- You pay £20 per week; this payment contributes towards the upkeep of the moped. You take responsibility for looking after the bike and checking the tyre pressures and oil levels. You also need to change the light bulbs if they break.
